Dormitories 1

Making sure that no one will see you, you quietly creep up the stairs leading to what you think are the girls' dormitories. You are both right and wrong, you see, when you reach the top of the stairway: There is a directory of sorts listing the names of the people who live in each dorm room. The dorms are not girls' dorms, but they are co-ed, which is just as good. The stairway curls around a bit before reaching the door to the first floor of dorms, and you decide to do this in a methodical manner, checking from the bottom up.

You open the door and close it behind you; fortunately, the castle's upkeep seems to be in very good shape and the door does not squeak or rattle as you move it. The hum of noise is audible, but muted, and you realize that the heavy wooden doors lining the hallway probably cut out most of the sound. You figure there is probably a good reason for that. The light here, as in the opening hallway, is provided by fake torches, although there is are also normal fluorescent lights installed in the ceiling, hidden partially by transparent gray panels. The overall effect is a decent amount of lighting.

Not sure where to begin, or what you've even come to do, you start to feel a slight bit foolish for coming up here. The mystique of being in a bunch of girls' living spaces has already faded away, leaving you at a bit of a loss. You walk the hall up and back, the door at the far end of the hall locked, with a WARNING: MAINTENANCE sign taped up. As you're coming back, though, you realize the noise that you can hear is slightly louder at one point... Walking back and forth a few times, you manage to pinpoint the room, and notice that the door, instead of being shut tight, is instead cracked a fair amount. You could try to see what's going on in the room, but if you did so, you'd be totally out in the open, and anyone who so much as walks down the hall would be able to decry you as a Peeping Tom.

What do you do?

Go and take a peek - gotta find out what's in there!

I'd rather not have a floor full of angry girls chasing me, thanks.
